LXI standard

Aerospace and defence projects, such as radar and satellite system deployments, often require many years of planning, research and development across several geographic regions. These projects require reliable test and measurement solutions that can adapt through time and are available in small form factor for easy worldwide deployment.
The LXI standard, a next-generation LAN-based modular platform for automated test systems, was developed to address such challenges. Agilent has played a key role in the development of the LXI standard and availability of LXI-compliant products to the industry, helping to meet today's aerospace and defence test and measurement needs.
The LXI standard was developed by the LXI consortium, a not-for-profit corporation comprised of 40 leading test and measurement companies and chartered by Agilent. The LXI standard combines built-in measurement science and PC-standard input/output (I/O) connectivity that uses the widely accepted Ethernet communications interface. It provides a compact, flexible package with high-speed capabilities and reliable measurements.
Agilent's leadership in the proliferation of the LXI standard worldwide is evident in its continued leadership of the LXI consortium and ongoing availability of LXI-compliant test products.
To help increase awareness of the LXI standard in China, Agilent hosted the LXI Consortium general meeting in Beijing June 19-21, 2007. The event focused on identifying the key benefits of LXI in the Chinese market, regional conformance and certification partners, and regional influencers such as the Chinese government and media.
Adding to its broad line of LXI products, Agilent has introduced the world's first LXI-compliant power meter. With PC-standard I/O connectivity and LAN interface, this small form factor power meter provides the efficient and easy system integration, lower-cost test capability, and small, portable size that LXI-based products are known for.
While LXI is ideal for test engineers in the aerospace/defence industry, it provides the same benefits in other global markets such as the automotive, industrial, medical and consumer electronics industries.
