Citipower, Powercor call for new recruits in Vic

CitiPower and Powercor Australia have announced new career opportunities for job seekers throughout Victoria as the business commences a major intake of apprentices and trainees.

The two companies will offer prospective recruits the opportunity to complete a comprehensive four year training program, designed to set them up for careers in the electricity industry.

Electrical trades being targeted through the program include: apprentice powerline workers, power system electricians as well as trainee technical officers (design) and electrical testers.

Successful applicants will be given the opportunity to live, study and work at a variety of depots throughout Victoria, including Echuca, Bendigo, Ballarat, Geelong, Colac, Warrnambool, Horsham, Mildura, Shepparton and Kyneton as well as Ardeer and Richmond in Melbourne.

New recruits will learn their trades under the guidance of senior, highly experienced mentors, who set high standards for the development of all apprentices and trainees through a critical emphasis on health and safety requirements.

“This recruitment drive well help CitiPower and Powercor to proactively respond to issues such as skilled labour shortages and an ageing workforce, while offering valuable training, qualifications, rewards and benefits to people looking to enter the electrical trade,” apprentice coordinator, Steven McConnell, said.

Application closing dates on 1 August. For further information, the Powercor or Citipower website.
