the 33rd taipei international Electronics Autumn Show, organised by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (TEEMA), was held on October 9-13, at Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC).
According to the organisers, there were more than 70,000 attendees (a 15% growth over last year). The exhibition halls were divided into 14 sections—Components & Equipment, Meters & Instruments, Wires & Cables, Electronics Manufacturing Equipment, Inspection Equipment, Consumer Electronics, Telecom & Satellite Products, Security Systems & Products, Computers and Peripherals, Stage Technology & Illumination Devices, Wireless & Networking Products, Audio & Video, Auto Electronics and Media—for more than 1,000 participating manufacturers in 2,100 booths.
“The production value of Taiwan electrical and electronics industries, including upper, mid and down streams, occupies over 50% of Taiwan’s total manufacturing,” said Mr. David Chen, president, TEEMA.
This year’s Taitronics marked the debut of the Taiwan Int’l RFID Applications Show, which attracted nearly 30,000 buyers.
Purchasers from around the world were introduced to the latest smart labels, chips, antennas, readers, and the newest Taiwan-developed applications in RFID logistics, medical care and surveillance. Showground orders in this sector alone are estimated to have exceeded US$1 million, the organisers said.
“Altogether 49 manufacturers used 130 booths in this first time RFID show,” said Mr. Walter Yeh, executive vice president, TAITRA. “Domestic and international visitors were able to gain an overview of the pluralistic applications of RFID in the access management system, healthcare, capital flow, logistics and agricultural industries.”
Moreover, TAITRA added the Taiwan Int’l Photovoltaic Forum & Exhibition, attracting more than 20,000 domestic and foreign buyers and 72 manufacturers. According to TAITRA, Taiwan’s top place in semiconductors production easily places it ahead at the cutting edge in solar developments. This event included five dedicated areas: Materials & Batteries, Modules & Power Conversion Systems, System Application & Manufacturing Equipment, Associations & Societies, and Media.
“This year, TAITRA has done everything to underscore the importance of the solar industry,” Mr. Yeh said. “At Taitronics Autumn 2007, various resources from Taiwan’s industry, government, academy and research are purposely converged in order to master the development trends of emerging industries such as nano-electronics, wireless and digital,” Mr. Chen said.
“Based on the original manufacturing framework, development is endeavoured towards R&D, innovation, and brand channelling, value-added, service. This would completely present the expedite transformation and upgrading of Taiwan’s electrical and electronics industries supply chain—and its solid international competitiveness—in the hope that global buyers would be deeply impressed,” Mr. Chen concluded.
