System

Hernan Alcerreca

Rittal has launched Slim-Box Vario, a 19 inch, rack-mounted system for small electronic enclosures which features the horizontal arrangement of equipment enabling twice the number of functional components to be integrated on 1, 2, 3 or 4 U (i.e. 2, 4, 6 or 8). Two slots per U are available at the front and rear. The housings contain a backplane for VME64x or cPCI.

Similar to the horizontal arrangement of the boards, DC fans in the left-hand side panel provide optimum horizontal ventilation for the housing. Other features include a slide-in fan unit with air filter and 12V DC fan. Sufficient space has been created for three or six fans depending on the height of the housing. Users can also remove the fan unit and filter mat if required.

The housings are 300mm deep and designed for the installation of cPCI, cPCI Express, VME64x boards of 3U, 6U or rear I/O boards. A power supply is also included either as an ATX power supply or optionally as a hot-swappable plug-in power supply.
