LG Electronics has announced the Australian market availability for its upgraded versions of the Super Multi Blue. The drives offer a DVD+/R write speed of 16X, one of the fastest on Blu-Ray Disc and High Definition DVD dual drive.

Two models have been added: the next generation Blu-Ray Disc (BD) Rewriter and High Definition DVD dual format drive (GGW-H20L), and the GGC-H20L which is BD and HD DVD compatible. “LG remains a leader in providing cutting-edge technology within the digital storage market. We have responded to the increased demand for higher quality optical storage drives by providing consumers with the ability to store and record data in Blu-Ray format at an uncontested speed,” said Janelle Dilger, Category Marketing Manager of IT, LG Electronics.

According to the company, the new Super Multi Blue drives take BD and HD DVD dual optical drive to the next level, with the GG-H20L offering BD-R write speed of 6X, and DVD+/-R write speed of 16X. The new Super Multi Blue also reads HD DVD ROM at 3X speed.
