CML Microcircuits has announced new product functionality for its FirmASIC component technology based CMX7031 and CMX7041 two-way radio processors. The latest market driven release issued by CML, offers two-way radio manufacturers, half-duplex C4FM modem functionality suitable for use in PMR/LMR radios. In conjunction with a suitable host µcontroller and RF circuit, this provides a complete digital baseband processing and data solution, the company said.

CML’s proprietary FirmASIC component technology configures on-chip sub-systems via a Function Image; this is a data file that is uploaded during device initialisation, configuring the function and feature-set. Function Image FI-3.0 is the latest release, providing C4FM modem functionality.

A Function Image can be loaded automatically from an optional external EEPROM or from a host microcontroller over the built-in C-BUS serial interface. Fully functional in the range 3.0 to 3.6 volts, this product is available as an LQFP or VQFN package.
