Queensland celebrates electrical contractor excellence

Hernan Alcerreca

The National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) Queensland Excellence Awards for 2007 were presented at a well-attended function at The Sebel and Citigate Hotel, King George Square, on Friday 3 August.

James Tinslay, national chief executive officer of NECA, said that each year the quality of winners is outstanding across communications, industrial and commercial projects.

“These awards give us a chance to applaud the year’s outstanding projects and top quality work, including recognition for outstanding efforts in occupational health and safety. The strictest processes are imposed throughout judging. This is why a NECA Award is seen as a prestigious recognition of outstanding work, by peers, the industry, clients and the wider community,” he said. “With the ever-increasing challenges and widening scope of the work undertaken by our members, quality has never been more important.”

This year's Queensland awards have been presented in six categories. Stowe Australia had a great day, accepting awards in three categories; Occupational Health & Safety, Voice/Data Large Project and the Large Commercial Project award. Another major winner was Blue Star Pacific, with awards in both the Medium Commercial Project and Voice & Data Small Project categories. IMS Innsol won the Industrial category.

The best of the best from throughout Australia will be announced at the NECA National Excellence Awards dinner on 15 November at Crown Casino in Melbourne.
