Hybrid rework

Hernan Alcerreca

ERSA has combined both its convection reflow soldering system and the infrared rework heating technology in one hand held and bench top repair system called the HR 100 ERSA Hybrid Rework system.

By means of IR radiation the tool delivers smooth and homogenous heat to components sizing from 0201s to 20 x 20 mm. This tool contains a positioning laser which helps the operator to focus the heat precisely throughout the entire process. A vacuum pick-up pen attached to the basic unit to ensure safe component handling. Hybrid adaptors focus 200 W of hybrid heating power onto the component while protecting the neighbouring areas from being blown away or thermally shocked. Hot tweezers can shock the component, hot air blowers can blow adjacent components away, short wavelength IR tools can overheat the component and large rework machines do not provide flexible hand-held access.

Using the optional 800W medium wavelength IR heating plate, the bench top set provides IR bottom-side heating as well as a Z-axis tool stand for the Hybrid Tool and an x-y PCB table.
